Charlotte: Senior 2008

 Charlotte

Charlotte was wonderful! Quiet, fun and mature with a radiant smile! Charlotte and her Grandpa met me at a beautiful little church in Gladstone where we proceeded to take advantage of our surroundings. Lots of cool little nooks to shoot in! Also, she came prepared with lots of great clothes to choose from, which always makes for a fun time of outfit picking and brings variety to the photos.

Don’t mind me…or the “artistically” out of focus image. Okay, not so artistically, but just plain out of focus. It’s hard shooting a self-portrait with regular arms and a 50mm on a cropped sensor! :-)

I LOOOVE that first one and the one where she is peeking through the steps is soooooooo fabulous. Seriously…those made me smile so big! Speaking of smiles, hers is such a sweet smile…way to capture it, Dus!

  2. Rachel Gardner

These are amazing. I love the colors and the textures. Good job as always.

  3. Luke

Great work as usual! I love the texture work on the one where she is wearing the green shirt and scarf!

  4. Bruce L. Snell

Cool dude. Was it cold out there? I sooooo ready for warmer weather. Hope it gets here soon.

    Nice frames.

    -Bruce

  5. Charlotte

yay! Thanks for doing such a great job! I was so glad we moved it a day forward (during the warm weather) because it did get really nasty the day we were suppose to do photos. Thanks so much Dustin!

  6. Dennis

Great Job. I’m her fiance and LOVE them. The first one is my favorite. She is just absolutely beautiful. You did an awesome job with the colors and other effects.

  7. Sandy Farrar

Love the photos of Charlotte. In #4 and #10 she looks like the actress in the movie The Illusionist and she also was on 7th Heaven, think her name is Jessica Beal or something like that. Charlotte has beautiful eyes and lips! I’m jealous!:) Great shoot Dustin. I always look forward to seeing your work. You’re the best!

Hannah: Senior 2008

hannah_senior_0004.jpg

Hi blog readers! It has been a little while, hasn’t it? I am hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas and were able to see family & friends. This time of year is always busy and hectic and crazy for so many people and I am not the exception. The rush of Christmas, usually a casual birthday celebration (turned 27 yesterday) and then the rush for prepping the end of the year and the beginning of another. Whew!

Well, this one is long overdue, but with the holiday break, I was unable to get them all edited and posted!

I had a wonderful time with Hannah, (accompanied by her mom and sister!). We met out in Blue Springs on a very cold day at Burr Oak Woods nature center. It ended up being a great place to shoot at. Lots of fun hanging out in God’s creation.

Enjoy!

I’m a sucker for teasing hair, laughing at trees, and native prairie grasses (which can grow to be 8 feet tall)!

Hanging next to a cool observation fence right off the trail. hannah_senior_0027.jpg

Loving the flair of the sun mixed with bench…I saw spots for quite a while after accidentally looking at the sun. Whoops!
hannah_senior_0043.jpg

Sorry Hannah, for making you get comfy on a log. I know you thought you were going to have fun, but at least the bugs and bears were hibernating!
hannah_senior_0069.jpg

I loved her layered look with the scarves and coat and all the layered tops. Take notes, ladies! hannah_senior_0081.jpg

Pretty smile!
hannah_senior_0095.jpg

Yeah, I have an affinity for dumpsters. I’m weird, I know.

hannah_senior_0126.jpg

The setting sun rocks for beautiful light. So warm and fuzzy, even on a cold day.

hannah_senior_0259.jpg

Color!
hannah_senior_0315.jpg

More color!
hannah_senior_0351.jpg

Pretty tops and cool shoes make for fashion, no? Wee.

hannah_senior_0330-2.jpg

There we went with the tall grasses again.

hannah_senior_0380.jpg

Look, it’s a deer…okay, it’s really mom & sis, who were dears, but not the kind with antlers. hannah_senior_0400.jpg

Aaaahhh! Crazy people!

Elise: Senior 2008

elise_senior_0073-3.jpg

Elise is an exciting, outgoing and personable young woman who comes from a wonderful family. I was so excited to shoot with her a few weeks back when the fall colors were slamming the world with golden hues. It was right after daylight savings, so we ended up shooting as the light quickly faded each evening, spanning over two days of short sessions instead of one longer session. It worked out because she lived (and we shot near) my house, so there wasn’t a lot of traveling involved…I think the results came out pretty dog-gone fun.

She is one of those people whom it is hard to take a bad photo of. Don’t you just hate that? Makes me jealous. :-) Her natural smile is at a constant “on” state and she has no “off” button. I think God stuck a smile on her face and forgot to make her able to frown. Anyway, Elise is creatively talented and radiant.

I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them.

Elise, I am going to post the surprise photos up tomorrow on my blog. I think you’ll like them. ;-)

elise_senior_0003.jpg

She climbed a tree and hung out for a while while I stood on my tippy-toes and tried to get some pics. Kinda cool, huh?

elise_senior_0064.jpg

The Little Blue River, where we shot some of the time, was just beautiful this time of year.

elise_senior_0098.jpg

It was chilly out, so we made use of the faux fur on her coat. Always looks good in black and white…

elise_senior_0138.jpg

BIG brown eyes!

elise_senior_0263.jpg

Laughing. Laughing. Laughing. It’s funny, she thought I was stupid for making her laugh at the rocks. I surely can’t make people laugh at my jokes, so rocks will have to do.

elise_senior_01711.jpg

TALL grass and gorgeous sunset through the trees.

elise_senior_0269.jpg

I loved the set with her hat and the leather jacket… It is sooo fresh.

elise_senior_0300.jpg

Laying on the wicker on the front porch. Too fun!

elise_senior_0355.jpg

Get out of the mulch! She is hanging onto the rails of her front porch and standing on the red mulch. I think I stepped on some irises…woops!

elise_senior_0384.jpg

Laugh at the tree. Laugh at the tree…not that tree, the OTHER tree!

elise_senior_0407.jpg

Weeeeeee!

dude!!!! these are gorgeous! way to go. i always love that you have such a wide variety… the colours are so yummy i had to use the british spelling… u da man!

  2. Luke

Beautiful photos as usual! I like the perspective of her up in the tree. “Laugh at that tree…no the other tree” ;) I may need to borrow that. Thanks for sharing your amazing creativity!!

  3. Jim

awesome….such a great fall theme with the colors and the processing! Each picture really stands on its own, but it’s really cool to see how they all work together as well. Great photography, great art!

  4. Michael

    Great stuff–as always–Dustin.

  5. mari

Very rich and beautiful images. What a fantastic smile she has too!

  6. Matthew D.

Must say I am jealous of the tall grass…. I still want to do a shoot in it and haven’t found any down here yet.

  7. Kate Mefford

So cute! Her eyes are insane. You did a super job of mixing it up but the consistency is still there…I feel like I know her! Great work, my friend!

  8. Jan

Love the hat shot! and the one below it. Love that Dustin style…

  9. "Aunt Sha"

That’s our Lisey! Elise Leah, you are beautiful! And your photographer is a “Michalengelo” with the camera. What a perfect fit, and artist/with a photo artist! Naturally, we thank God for the beautiful job HE did in creating you most of all! (heh heh) I LOVE these photo’s, they are all my favorites… I love it that the photographer used humor to catch “movement” in the shots. I love the way he captured your “eyes” the eye is the “window to the soul”. What an awesome job the stellar photographer has created… great work.
    luv you, Aunt Sha

  10. Heather Meyers Photography

beautiful photos - the one cropped headshot with the hat is incredible ;o) love the warm sultry colors…love
