To continue with the “From the Archives” series, I wanted to share one of my all-time favorites that I shot of the talented model/actor/singer/dancer, DJ Rouse.

I chose this image because I originally processed it with this not-so-nice, greenish tint that looked kinda funky, but didn’t bring out the full potential of the image. Since it was originally processed poorly, with fresh eyes and my new Lightroom Presets, I saw some potential with this image with the new post-processing. I am very happy with the results.

Session Notes: This was shot in natural light, mid-day, with my trusty old Nikon D70 and my 50mm f/1.4. I shot it in RAW and processed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. We had just poured water all over his head with a jug so he had kind of a wet appearance. He was a good sport and went along with it for some pretty cool results. This was re-processed with Steller Lightroom Presets (Gray Craze Warmer).

Here is the original RAW file next to the Gray series preset, Gray Craze Warmer. This is only one of the 52 presets included!

This image was shot a long time ago with my first session using my strobes. I used a large softbox with my AB800 and a reflective umbrella with my AB400. I used a video screen for the background on this particular shot, although white paper works just as well. I love my Alien Bees.

The light tan gradient was set over the original white background and set to normal layer mode. A new subtle texture layer was set over the entire image and set to color burn. The layer was duplicated and the opacity dropped a little to give it a bit of edgy intensity.

Sidenote:
For those that know me, they know I am a BIG family guy. I came from a large family and love being around my family. I am the oldest of 5. My middle sister, Hannah, got married a year ago and moved with her chef husband, Kyle, to Hawaii. I have news regarding them! They are moving home to Kansas City! Here is Happy Hannah as we all know her smiling face (oddly enough, from the same shoot, just different processing). She looks just like my mom. Goodness!

I was going through some photos I took over a year ago, and found myself looking at the RAW files with fresh eyes. I reprocessed the photo with my current toolset and it made me happy inside, so since it was older work (pre-blog), I decided maybe you all, my faithful blog-stalkers, might like to see my old junk…Please keep in mind, these were shot with my old Nikon D70.

I will add to this intermittently, but only if you all want me to. Let me know if you would like to see more of my old work. If anything, we can share in the humiliation and I can show you how far I am hopefully coming.

The first official From the Archives photo, #001:
