Tyler+Monica Engagement

Giggles! Monica is full of laughs and I think Tyler is her muse. His quiet smile is always with her and continually keeps Miss Monica with a HUGE smile on her beautiful face.

I say ‘Miss Monica’ because she is a school teacher who loves all her kids and talks about them a lot! This radiant couple found me because I had the extreme pleasure of hanging with Tyler’s sister, Ryan, at Jon+Caycee’s wedding. Ryan is the pretty blonde, fourth from the left, in the Perspective photos from earlier today.

Anyway, Monica and Tyler and I had a ball hanging out down at the Plaza. One thing about my engagement sessions…we have fun. We laugh and try to get to know one another and stay relaxed. It is not a photo session so much as it is a get-to-know-you session…a perfect way for a photographer to become familiar with his subjects before their wedding day, so on the wedding day isn’t shooting cold turkey. :-)

I hope you love the photos as much as I loved hanging out with them. Let me know what your favorite is and can you guess which one is my fav?

Is it a bee?! Aaaah!

  1. Sister Ryan

So…after seeing him work at Caycee & Jon’s wedding I knew Dustin would be perfect for Tyler & Monica because he has that spark that both of them have too! The pics are great!! You did a fabulous job capturing their youthful energy and also their love for one another.

Favorites…: I’m digging the portrait of Tyler by the tree looking like the teddy bear he is…and also the pic with Monica lying down flashing the gigantic smile of hers…but FAVORITE has to be the pic of the two of them under the tree with the sun shining through. Monica’s face says “mmmm…I’m a little nervous” and Tyler’s smile says “Don’t worry, I love you”. Beautiful shot!!

P.S. I’m guessing your favorite is the symetrical one under the bridge, no? ;-)

  2. Monica

Oh wow! Dustin, these are AMAZING! Better than I ever imagined! I can’t even begin to explain how much I LOVE them! It’s going to be impossible for me to pick a favorite-they’re all so great! You have truly captured our personalities, which leaves me in awe. Tyler loves the one with my arms crossed and my sly smile. He says it portrays me being sweet, but really it’s just me being bossy. Hehe :) And Tyler is totally a stud under that tree–just look at those DREAMY eyes! Ahhhh! They’re great! I can NOT wait for the proofs to come out! And for our wedding day to come!!!

  3. Caycee

Yea! Tyler & Monica! I’ve been stalking the blog waiting for these to be up ever since Ryan told me you shot them. I love these pictures, my favorite is the one under the bridge where they’re both looking up. It’s fabulous. Keep up the steller work!

  4. Jean Winkler

How I loved the pictures!!! I love you both so very much.

Andrew+Heather Engagement

Heather and Andrew. Andrew and Heather. This pair is a dynamic duo of good looks and great company. Andrew is a fireman…firefighter…I am not sure what the proper title is…well, he wears a uniform and risks his life to put out fires, rescue people and save cats. Heather…well, she just likes her man in his uniform. She is a talented MUA (what’s an MUA, you ask? As a photographer, M-U-A is lingo for Make-Up Artist. :-)

We met in downtown Lee’s Summit, the home turf of the ever-so-talented dynamic duo at Photomementos. We shot around for a couple blocks and ended up at the WhistleStop Café for a cup of cold Joe that can’t be beat! I really enjoyed hanging around these two and can’t wait for the exciting photos we are going to create for their upcoming wedding in December! Trust me, they are going to be a blast. ;-)

Dan+Kelly Engagement

Dan and Kelly  and I met up at the Nelson Atkins for a fun engagement shoot…We met down there because Kelly’s mom has been a long-time volunteer with the age-old art museum & gallery. One of these days, I will have to follow her around to get a super-in-depth tour of the place.

Laughs and symmetry were the call of the day when I recently spent some quality photo time with Dan and Kelly. They are a sweet and tender couple who are drawn to one another…their senses of humor tie these two up and left me in stitches…I hope you enjoy their photos, just as much as I enjoyed being around them.

…and how ’bout a little art for art’s sake, hmmm?

Make sure you comment and let me know what you think of the various artsy shots, k? I was really, really feeling symmetrical that day, as Dan and Kelly can both attest to. :-)

Stay tuned for many, many more posts as I play ‘October’ catch-up. Lots of engagements and weddings to blog and proof and even more albums to produce…YEAH!

Smooth, yet rigid. Classic, yet with an edge. Hard to do man, good job!

  2. Erik Miguel

Love the parking garage shot, the proposing shot; super cool; love how you post-processed it.

  3. Carolyn

That random guy in the background of one of these really made me laugh!

I really enjoyed looking at these pictures - there are so many good ones and so amusing!
